Dordrecht Delight: A Day of Dutch Discoveries 😍

Last Friday, my husband and I went on a one day trip to Dordrecht, a city in the Netherlands. It was a short visit, but we really enjoyed it.
We started early in the morning, taking the train from Rotterdam Central. Along the way, we saw lots of pretty fields and small villages, which made us excited to get to Dordrecht.

When we arrived, we loved the look of the city. It had cool old buildings and canals everywhere. We walked around the streets, checking out the shops and cafes. It was a bit chilly with light rain, but with my partner beside me, we had fun.

Moreover, call it coincidence or what I don't know, there was a local market that day. You won't believe it, but guess what we bought from the market? A chopper! Yes, a chopper. Our old one got ruined in the dishwasher, and since we found one here, we decided to buy it. I know, it's odd to go sightseeing and come back with a chopper, but hey, there was a market, so why not? Pretty funny, huh? Hahaha, lol.

The best part was we made sure to visit some of its famous landmarks. The Groothoofdspoort, an old gate near the water, was impressive to see up close. The Stadhuis Van Dordrecht, the town hall, had such a grand facade that we couldn't resist taking a few photos. And the Huis Van Gijn, a historic house museum, gave us a glimpse into life in Dordrecht in the past. These places added even more charm to our day trip, and we're glad we got to experience them.

For lunch, we had carried our own fruits and snacks. We sat by a beautiful canal and enjoyed our relaxing time there. It was cold but beautiful!

After eating, we kept exploring. We walked along the water and crossed some pretty bridges. Everything was so peaceful and nice.

When it started getting dark, we knew it was time to go home. We didn't want to leave, but we had to catch the train back.

On the train ride home, we talked about all the fun things we did in Dordrecht. It was a short trip, but it was really special. We'll always remember our day in Dordrecht.

Honestly, we were originally headed to Paris for a 3-day trip however due to the ongoing political clashes, we were recommended by a few friends not to visit Paris. So we changed our plans and decided to explore local cities in the Netherlands.

I would write about our other day-trips in the following days in my upcoming blogs.

Until then, here are a few pictures from our trip to Dordrecht:
