Valakkai Bajji

Having lived in Chennai for almost 16 years, you ask me what's the best part about life in Chennai and i would say Valakkai Bajji and Tea.

For those of you who don't know what it is, Valakkai Bajji is a famous evening snack which is made with raw bananas and a mixture of readily available flours at home with salt and chilli powder.
Tasty valakkai bajjis with a hot cup of tea can never go wrong on a rainy day.

The best memories that i have as a kid are my dad taking all of us to the beach on every sunday where i could enjoy those yummy bajjis. Infact, Chennai's beaches attract thousands of people to them because of their delicious seafood and food stalls with pocket friendly rates.

"No other shoreline in the country probably has as varied a choice of gastronomic delights as the city’s beaches" - The Hindu.

Not that you cannot find the bajji's in the city anywhere except the beaches, but it is something about going to the beach and having them that fascinates me.

Only if i could, i would visit the beach everyday and still won't get bored - fresh air, lovely waves, lot of people, Sundal and my favorite, mouth watering valakkai bajji with tea, sounds like a perfect date with myself.
